Construction Framework

At Solarpunk Futures, we’ve always believed that building regeneratively shouldn’t be a privilege — it should be a possibility. But belief alone isn’t enough. To shift mindsets and mainstream sustainable construction, we have to prove it — not just in theory, but on the ground, brick by brick. To test this, we’re designing and executing a prototype project for Serie’s new architectural office in Goa (Sangolda) where we put our core thesis to the test: Can we build beautifully, consciously, and cost-effectively — all at once?
Project Opportunity
To test this, we’re designing and executing a prototype project for SIE’s new architectural office in Goa (Sangolda).

Objective
1. Showcase Practical Beauty
Demonstrate that Solarpunk Futures can deliver aesthetically compelling, high-functioning structures within conventional cost constraints, proving that sustainable design is viable even at modest scales.
2. Test Affordability with CSEB
Evaluate if a Compressed Stabilized Earth Block (CSEB)-based design can achieve a ₹2,500/sq.ft cost benchmark, without compromising on structural integrity, finish quality, or ecological responsibility.
3. Create a Live Working Prototype
Use this build as a test bed for systems and execution, focusing on:
Construction detailing
Material sourcing, supply chain, and on-ground logistics
Craftsmanship standards, finish quality, and scalable construction practices
Stages & Next Steps
01 / Concept
Finalize the core design direction
Prepare basic drawings and preliminary cost estimates
Align on overall vision and feasibility
02 / Detailing
Develop detailed architectural and construction drawings
Generate a comprehensive costing breakdown
Integrate inputs from Kapil, Cri, and extended team
Prepare TCP submission for local approvals and permissions
03 / Execution
Begin on-site construction
Maintain real-time documentation of the process
Capture key challenges, innovations, and learnings for future scalability
